Pennycress - Seed
This is a really cool plant that can be used fresh in cut flower bouquets for greenery or as a dried flower. Pennycress (Thlaspi arvense) can be direct-seeded in the fall to bloom and make seed heads in late Spring the. following year. Or, started in late summer and transplanted into the ground overwinter.
Seeds can be directly sown in the ground in the fall for blooms in late spring. Or, start them in trays in late summer and transplant out in early fall to overwinter for earlier spring blooms. If starting indoors, plant seeds into seed starting medium 1/4” deep, keeping the temperature of growing area around 70 degrees F. Seeds will germinate in 7 to 12 days. Transplant seedlings outside after the first leaves have set and plants have had an opportunity to harden off. If you are direct sowing, make a small furrow and plant seeds 1/4" into the soil. Plant before a rain, or plan on supplementing seeds with regular watering to promote germination.
